Hansen’s Hopes Washed Away Again!
AMERICUS, Ga., April
27, 2010 – Rookie sensation Anne Hansen had her racing dreams
halted by mother nature for the second race in a row at the
Hardees Georgia Drags ADRL Race held at South Georgia
Motorsports Park, April 23-24. Hansen was the first female
competitor ever to qualify in the Pro Extreme motorcycle class
in her debut race - Houston Raceway Park. That race was canceled
due to rain just like this past weekends final qualifying round.
Hansen,
aboard the Lowe Toyota/Star Racing motorcycle was primed to make
her second career race as she qualified 12th with a
run of 4.35 seconds and over 168 MPH going into what would be
the best qualifying round of the weekend. During this round the
motorcycle developed an electrical problem due to a faulty
switch, and Hansen found herself outside the top 16 with one
round of qualifying remaining. Minutes before the final session
of qualifying was to begin, the sound of heavy rain overcame the
track. Race officials made the decision to forgo the last
qualifying round in an effort to dry the track and get the
racing underway.
"While we did not get
to make that final round, we did have a successful weekend,"
stated Hansen. "Our goal was to represent Lowe Toyota of Warner
Robins, Georgia, and we put on quite a display. We had top spot
on manufacturer’s midway which enabled the large crowd of
spectators to gather around to see our new Toyota Tundra and get
their photo taken with the bike. I even had the opportunity to
tape several TV interviews in between signing numerous
autographs."
Team owner George Bryce
had the following comments about the weekend’s activities; "With
the competition so tight, you need every round of qualifying to
get in the show. Losing those last two rounds hurt, but I’m
still proud of my team as we accomplished our goal. We were able
to showcase Lowe Toyota to a new group of people and give them
even more exposure for the second weekend in a row. I think
displaying the Star transporter last weekend at the Lowe
dealership and this weekend’s race will generate new leads and
sales for Lowe Toyota."
